Practicing art since she was a child, Kaspari developed strong roots in creating the world around her, particularly with drawing. In her education, that grew when she discovered that art doesn’t have to be closed to a medium just for viewing. Art can be an experience – something you can fully immerse yourself in, and even live in.

For her Master’s thesis, she studied how architecture can impact the physical and mental well-being of a person by designing a new State (Mental) Hospital for North Dakota. The research into the psychology of how people respond to light, color, nature, materials, security, etc. was essential in designing a hospital environment that aimed to calm the mind, even in a setting that needed to be very safe and secure. 

Her early studies in this area revealed how a building can enhance or inhibit emotional well-being and healing – principals that are extremely telling for how Kaspari approaches design even to this day. 

Kaspari finds joy in the connection with people, learning about what is important to them, and finding out about their needs and wishes for their space. She’s found that creating homes and buildings that not only look great, but feel great, can be a subtle art form and in a way, improves on a healthy world.
